About Our Winterization Services

The end of boating season is bittersweet here in the Midwest. When you feel that familiar chill in the air, usually near the end of October, you will need to retire your boat until spring rolls back around. Of course, there is more to it than just parking your boat in the driveway and throwing a tarp over it. You must take special measures to protect your boat during winter storage.

Sure, this can seem like a chore – but if you skip over the process of winterization, your boat could sustain serious damage. The last thing you want to uncover in spring is a boat with a bad case of mildew, or with an engine that needs repair. However, not all boaters have time to make the necessary preparations before placing their boats in storage. That’s why we offer professional boat winterization services here at Aronson Boat Works.

Boat Winterization

The boat winterization process begins with a thorough cleaning to remove any grime or algae from the exterior of the boat. Next, the engine is flushed with fresh water, and the cooling system is supplied with a fresh batch of antifreeze. A fuel stabilizer is then added to the fuel tank, in order to preserve the fuel and protect the tank from freezing and condensation.

Last but not least, the boat’s battery is removed. We recommend hooking up the battery to a trickle charger while your boat is in storage.
